So Whats in our Name? Tamarine is a play on words that bring together the tamarind seed; a spiritual symbol in India of movement and growth, which is represented in our marine and logistics businesses.

The word Tamarind itself comes from the Hebrew/Arabic word  “Tamar” meaning palm/date palm/date fruit –  and “Hind” meaning India, our homeport.   The palm as a symbol  represented in ancient Afro/Arabic lands a freely moving exchange of goods, services; prosperity and ideas.   A most fitting and timeless symbol of trade and transportation.
